A man stopped in at TJ Chapman Auto on Redwood Road in Salt Lake City and asked for a test drive. When the employee asked to see his driver’s license, he said he didn’t have it with him. He started to head back outside, and the employee figured he was going to get the license from his vehicle. He instead came back into the office while no one was inside and took the key to the vehicle. Later in the day he returned to the dealership and walked up to the vehicle on the lot, got in and drove away.
"This was a $27,000 car. It was a beautiful car that now we're out," general manager Lori Chapman said. "We are a smaller dealership. We have an inventory of about a hundred cars."
