Join Blue Star Families of Utah and the Salt Lake City VA Healthcare System's Suicide Prevention Team & PTSD Clinic as we help to spread awareness about the effects of fireworks on Veterans.

The summer season brings many types of celebrations that include fireworks displays and many families also celebrate with fireworks at home. The sudden sharp loud noise from fireworks can be especially difficult for our nation's combat veterans, especially those who live with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

With this event, we are seeking to educate the community about the effects of Fireworks on Veterans as well as provide some relief for Veterans to get through the summer season.

We'll be providing Fireworks Relief Kits to Veterans and Caregivers that include earplugs, sleep masks, resources, and education on available programs and other resources for Veterans at this time of year. We'll also be providing a listing of known fireworks displays across Northern Utah so Veterans can plan.

Veterans may register to pick up a FREE Firework's Relief Kit during our in-person event at the SLC VA Main Hospital Entrance on June 30th. (This event is open to all active Military, National Guard, and Reserve -AND- all Veterans and Retirees.) All Military or Veterans who pre-register for this event will be entered to win one of two Musicozy Deluxe Sleep Mask and Sleep Headphones Combo Devices*.

Additionally, Individuals may register to receive an email with educational materials on the effects of fireworks on Veterans and what they can do to help.
