What Is Going To Happen To Seven Peaks? Community Council Pitches 5 Ideas

Seven Peaks water park was once a popular summer attraction that is now abandoned.

The park closed down in 2018 after its lease expired. Blue Island Group was slated to become the next operator, however, the company went into default in August of 2019 after failing to maintain the site. The property is now owned by the city.

So what will happen next for the park?

Local government opened the topic up to the public and asked for input.

The Glendale Community Council came up with five different scenarios that were presented at a "community visioning event", reported Fox 13 Now.

The council's possible scenarios were:

  1. Let the area remain a water park and restore the site. This would cost an estimated $20 million or more and the timeline could take several years due to the level of destruction.
  2. Use the area as a water feature and open space complete with a splash pad, public pool, and other water features. There would be green space for public use.
  3. Use the area as a water feature and community space that would have the same water features in suggestion number two with an added "nostalgia-related" public art installation, a food truck court, water sports rental area, and seating areas.
  4. Use the area as a water feature and recreation space that would have the same water features in suggestion number two with added sports courts and fields, walking and running trails, accessible playgrounds, other recreation options, and public art.
  5. Use the are as a regional park connection that would be combined with Glendale Golf Course and 17th South River Park. It would become a "regional park" like Liberty/Sugarhouse parks that would have room for amenities such as trails, open spaces, water features, education signage, and seating area.
