In the midst of the raging global pandemic, nearly 16 million Americans decided to pack up and move.
United Van Lines conducted a study to determine which states had the most individuals moving in and out of the state.
Eily Cummings, director of corporate communications at Van Lines, stated on the website, "Each year, our United Van Lines study provides critical insights into broader migration patterns and Americans’ moving motivations."
How did Utah compare to other states?
According to the study, Utah had a total inbound percentage of 54.9% and a total outbound percentage of 45.1%.
The study shows that the main reason people moved into the state was for job opportunities, retirement, family, and lifestyle.
The state with the highest inbound percentage was Idaho with 70.1%.

- South Dakota
- Arizona
- North Carolina
- Tennessee
- Alabama
- Florida
- Arkansas

- New Jersey
- New York
- Illinois
- Connecticut
- California
- Kansas
- North Dakota
- Massachusetts

- Maryland
