The Craziness of Planning a Wedding in 2020

Danny, my fiance, and I got engaged in January this year. So of course, I started planning our wedding in February. I went to a couple Bridal Shows. That helped me begin to figure out what I wanted style wise for our wedding. I was in between a rustic wedding, and a more whimiscal style wedding. As soon as I started reaching out to businesses to plan our wedding, the Coronavirus lockdowns began.

We decided to postpone untile 2021, we are saving for a house and decided to focus on that financially.

Continuing on the rollercoaster of 2020, things started to get a bit better with Covid, so we re-evaluated and decided to go forward with our wedding. We had wanted to get married on 10-10-2020 for almost a year, and so we decided on that date. When we decided on that it was in the beginning of July. So, the planning REALLY began.

Engagement Pictures

The first thing we got done was our engagment pictures. We decided to meet our photographer, Tressa, up Mirror Lake Highway. The time of day was perfect. I loved how she posed us, and she brought out the best in us. We decided to have her be our wedding day photographer as well.

For our outfits, I decided on some colors I felt that both of us look good in. Since we both are fair skinned Green and Blues look best on us.

I went to a bunch of different stores to put together our outfits, and was so happy with what we ended up with.

Wedding Colors

I then decided on our wedding colors, which if I had any advice for brides, go for one or two colors. I am doing 4, and it makes it a bit difficult. I have four bridesmaids. So each of my girls' dresses are a different color. I also went for the tactic of letting the girls choose their own dress, as long as it was one of the colors. My colors are Burgandy, Dusty Rose, Steel Blue, and Light Olive Green.

Another piece of advice would be if you have the girls choose their own dresses, give them a swatch that they can carry around when they are shopping so they get the color right. Stores list dresses as "Burgandy" but it might be more of a Wine color. To make sure you're on the same page, that swatch will insure that you are getting the colors you want.

Tuxedo's and Suits

Danny and I had the conversation about renting and buying suits. Danny is not the kind of guy to wear suits very often, so we decided it would make more sense to rent out the suits for him and his groomsman. Utah offers a bunch of businesses that do Suit Rentals. With the Virus making things a bit different, the suit store we went to had everyone in the bridal party come in at seperate times to get fitted, which turned out to be convenient.
