Anxiety and Self Care Tips from Dr. Burton

Sometimes there are events that rightfully provoke some anxiety. The COVID-19 health issue is one such event. One can never get rid of the anxiety completely, but one can decrease the anxiety and engage in daily self care. In addition to eating well and taking appropriate precautions, here are some other ideas -

Exercise daily, 30 to 45 minutes of aerobics - aerobics are best for good emotional health

Good Sleep - 7 to 8 hours of restful sleep

Daily meditative practice - many activities fall into the meditative category, like yoga, walking, hot baths, and guided imagery. The app HeadSpace is a good app for daily meditation, and there are others such as 10 percent Happier. Find one that works for you. Also guided imagery, with focus on reducing anxiety. A good website for guided imagery is www.healthjourneys.com. Search for "anxiety" and all the downloadable mp3 files that have to do with reducing anxiety will be loaded. I think Bellaruth Naperstak has very good guided imagery for reducing anxiety.
