This is a picture of my Best Friend Jessi Kopecky and Myself. (Jes is the one in the glasses.) We are a couple of adults that still act like kids when we are alone together. Besides being the most hilarious person, Jes is the most giving, thoughtful, loving, and caring person I know. She just happens to have Chiari Malformation Type1. This is a condition where the brain tissue sinks down into the spinal canal. This alone can cause a multitude of problems that cause pain. There isn't much that can be done to help other than decompression surgery. This was recommended by the local Neurologist.
The ultimate goal is to be able to afford to have the surgery while at the Mayo Clinic.
Growing up with Jes has always been an adventure. And I am not ready for the pain and this diagnosis to come in between us and our future adventures together. I am going to fight with and for my best friend the whole way!
Jes has an appointment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN on December 2nd. This appointment alone is $5000 out of pocket. The problem she is facing at the moment is that her current insurance has denied her coverage for the out of network care. This putting the cost on her 100%
Being able to give back to Jes is the least I can do. Please help me in making sure that Jes is able to get the best care out there.
