Our History:The Salt Lake Domestic Violence Coalition (SLDVC) was established in 1993 in response to the need for public awareness about the crime of domestic violence, as well as to bring about a unity of social service providers who could meet the needs of those living in abusive relationships. For over 20 years, SLDVC has united community leaders, treatment providers, victim advocates, police departments, victim shelters, attorneys, and other interested parties who are committed to the mission of preventing and eliminating domestic abuse. The effects of domestic violence reach beyond individual homes and families to our entire community. We recognize the importance of increased awareness and a coordinated effort in making strides against this pervasive social problem.

What We Do: A coordinated effort and a strong community are essential to ending domestic violence. The SLDVC provides a monthly forum to unite community members who are passionate about these issues. Meetings are open to any community members who support our mission and wish to join our efforts. Participation in monthly meetings help to network with others, provide support for individual efforts and increase the effectiveness of delivering services for victims. In addition to monthly meetings, participants become a powerful voice in the community as they develop intervention strategies and plan activities through the year. These events include events such as 5Ks/fun runs, Clothing Drives, Peace On Earth Awards Dinner and Silent Auction, and public awareness campaigns such as the Clothesline Project ((www.clotheslineproject.org)
