Good News (5/3) - Starbucks Controversy Leads to Grant For Students

After 2 black men were arrested at a Philadelphia Starbucks in April, the discriminatory nature of the event sparked a national backlash.  Now, the men are being praised for their settlement with the city.

In exchange for expunging the city and Starbucks of all claims, Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson are settling for $1 each and a pledge from the city to create a $200,000 grant program for high school entrepreneurs.

“We thought long and hard about it and we feel like this is the best way to see that change that we want to see,” said Robinson, according to the Associated Press. “It’s not a right-now thing that’s good for right now, but I feel like we will see the true change over time.”
