Beyonce Was Once Considered For 'Beauty & the Beast' Live-Action Adaptation

Beauty and the Beast was the highest grossing film of 2017 (so far!) but the addition of one big name to its cast could've bumped up its box office numbers even more: Beyoncé. In a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Beauty and the Beast director Bill Condon revealed that Bey was offered a role in the live-action adaption.

The megastar was apparently considered for the role of the feather duster, Plumette. "I even tried to get her into Beauty and the Beast,” Condon told Yahoo. “But it wasn’t a big enough part. She would have been a good feather duster." The role eventually went to Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who starred in Beyond the Lights and Free State of Jones.

Knowles and Condon previously worked together on the 2006 musical Dreamgirls, where Bey played lead Deena Jones. Despite turning down the Beauty and the Beast role, Bey is reportedly in talks to voice Nala from the upcoming live-action reboot of a different '90s Disney classic -- The Lion King, alongside Donald Glover (Simba) and James Earl Jones (Mufasa).
