One of the founding fathers fathers of rock ‘n’ roll, Little Richard, is dead at the age of 87.
His death was announced by his son this morning. The cause was not announced.
Richard Penniman first made the charts with “Tutti Frutti” in 1956 and soon had a string of hits including “Long Tall Sally” and “Good Golly Miss Molly”.
Although he never hit the top 10 after 1958, Little Richard was an influential presence in rock ‘n’ roll for decades.
