TRIPLE-DIGIT TEMPERATURES MAY HAVE BEEN A FACTOR IN THE DEATH OF A HIKER IN SOUTHERN UTAH.

WAYNE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICIALS SAY, A MAN WAS FOUND DEAD, JUST OFF A POPULAR HIKING TRAIL.

AUTHORITIES SAY HE WAS CARRYING ONLY A CAMERA -- NO FOOD OR WATER -- AND DID NOT APPEAR EQUIPPED FOR THE HEAT.

THE MAN'S NAME HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED, AS AN AUTOPSY IS PENDING.

POLICE SAY A GROUP OF HIKERS CAME UPON THE MAN AND HE ASKED THEM FOR FOOD AND WATER.
