University of Utah officials will meet, Thursday, with students who spend much of their time in the relatively new Sutton Geology Building.

The meeting follows protests that had students posting signs in their building windows -- the same windows that will no longer allow them to view the Great Salt Lake, if a planned parking garage is built.

The students say the building was positioned, to allow them to see the west Salt Lake Valley -- and beyond -- to aid in their geology research.

But school officials say sacrifices may have to be made, because the U parking problems have become critical.
