A Salt Lake gas station -- at 5th South and West Temple -- has installed solar panels, on the canopy above the gas pumps.

Those panels are now producing half of the electricity the station needs to operate.

Owner Tammy Reid says her original bill -- for the 125 solar panels -- was $161-thousand.  But after receiving federal, state and Rocky Mountain Power grants, her out-of-pocket expense was just $22-thousand.

The business is Utah's first-ever, solar-powered gas station.
