Former Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak is currently at Abbott Northwestern Hospital after becoming short of breath while cross-country skiing in Minneapolis' Theodore Wirth Park on Saturday.
Tim Burke, a spokesman for Abbott Northwestern Hospital., said Rybak came to the Emergency Department about 1 p.m. by ambulance “complaining of shortness of breath and chest pains after cross-country skiing 7.7 miles in Theodore Wirth Park.”
The 58-year-old was taken to cardiac catheterization lab where doctors “performed an angioplasty and inserted two stents, Burke said. Rybak was reported to be resting comfortably and visiting with family, who asked that their privacy be respected, Burke added.
Rybak seems to be doing better as he was back to tweeting his signature poems, here's what he wrote:
My cardiac surprise/Gave me quite a start/But it proves this politician/Has a great big heart— R.T. Rybak (@R_T_Rybak) January 4, 2014
And, then he added:
By the way the ski trails at Wirth are awesome today— R.T. Rybak (@R_T_Rybak) January 4, 2014
We're hoping for a quick recovery!
